TOS Review: Amazing Science Volume 1

This has to be THE coolest science experiment video out there!

For every demonstration, a complete materials list is given, and each experiment features multiple camera views so you can see exactly what happens. Most importantly, every concept is explained in a step-by-step fashion. You'll not only be amazed - you'll understand the science behind every experiment! - Science and Math

The experiments are easy to pull together from regular household items, and Science and Math man, Jason, DOES explain WHY the experiment works, in DETAIL! Whoop! I've seen SO many books with experiments that tell you what you need for materials and the step-by-step instructions, but skip telling us the science-behind-the-results! Having those results explained through scientific concepts is a must for understanding, yet many books skip right over this ESSENTIAL part. I'm a happy-happy homeschooling Mom to have Amazing Science Volume 1 video set!

And there's 23 experiments! Here's just a few:

Color Changing Milk
Exploring Air Pressure
Unburnable Money
Matchstick Speedboat
Balloon in a Candle Flame
Simple Lava Lamp
Soda Can Fizz
Build a Motor

Oh, want to see some videos of science experiments? Click here and head to the Science and Math website to see a few!

We couldn't wait to get started! We began with experiment #1, Color Changing Milk, and proceeded through a number of the experiments, watching the videos on my laptop until the explanation part, pausing to do the experiment and discuss, then returning to listen to the science-behind-the-results. Easy-peasy to pull together! Isn't that the best? We could focus on the DOING rather than the GATHERING and PREPARING!

Balsam Fir Wondering if it'll REALLY Work
It Does!
And it KEEPS Working for a Bit! Cool Swirls!

Now, you'll want to make sure that your kiddos have some background information prior to the experiments so that they will understand the science-behind-the-experiment explanations. Jason uses specific scientific terms and properties that may be hard to understand without some additional knowledge. But this video is WONDERFUL for hands-on supplements to book learning! I would highly recommend it for K-6 kiddos!

Oh, I don't know about where you live, but science camps and parties are really popular around here. You could DEFINITELY use this video to plan and create a cool science show for a birthday party for MUCH cheaper! Picture Dad dressed up in a white lab jacket! LOL Or a great way to pass an afternoon while babysitting. Or rainy day fun! Learning happens in so many ways!

  1. This sounds awesome. I'm with you, most experiments do not tell you WHY it is happening. Off to check this out. Thanks!
